I love open concept rings. Not only do I love the style but I like that they are adjustable without looking like an adjustable ring. This style of ring is perfect for people with arthritic fingers, broken fingers, people experiencing swelling, or for people that love unusual pieces of jewelry! A little background on Leland blue and Swedish blue. It is actually glass and the smallest stone was created hundreds of years ago during the Middle Ages! Slag is a byproduct of the smelting process: raw ore is heated, and the desired iron ore is separated from various natural impurities. When those impurities cool, the result is stone-like slag. The swirls of blue are so beautiful. The little pits are found in most larger stones and does not effect the stability of the stone. I lightly oxidized this piece to bring out the floral design on the back of the ring as well as the cool ring band.

Because this is an open ring it will fit between a size 7.5 and 9.5 US. If you need to stretch or tighten this ring, please warm it in your hands first. If silver is bent repeatedly without warming, it will break! Please contact me if you have any questions about the sizing.
The Leland Lake Superior Iron Company dumped their slag in Lake Superior in the late 1800’s and to this day, pieces are still found on the shores which are then cut and shaped in to cabochons. The Swedish blue was created the same way but back in the Middle Ages! The stone is a residual product from Swedish iron production over three hundred years ago. Production took place in small coal-fired ovens, where the ore was melted to a liquid mass.
The gems I use in my jewelry are ethically sourced. No two are exactly alike! In addition to these variations, inclusions and irregularities are not flaws but rather a reflection of nature’s beauty.
I use ethically sourced and recycled silver.
This piece has been hand forged by me in my little studio. All metal used on this piece is fine and solid 925 sterling silver.
