Starburst stone is so amazing! It is a man made stone but the magic within would never lead you to believe it was. It’s one of the most chatoyant stones I’ve ever seen. Because of this, I thought it deserved a simple setting. As always, it’s much prettier in person. All photos were taken in natural light. The beautiful stone measures roughly 32.5mm x 16mm. Starburst Stone is a man-made material, made from 100% natural minerals, where around 80% are the same as those used in making soda-lime glass (aka soda-lime-silica glass). Starburst Stone resembles Victoria Stone, which was also man-made, by a Japanese chemist, Dr Iimori, from approximately 1962 until 1990. To that extent Starburst Stone can be said to be a recreation (one of a few) of Victoria Stone. Starburst Stone is similar to Victoria Stone but definitely not the same as Dr Iimori took the “recipe” to his grave. Starburst Stone is manufactured in Perth Western Australia.

The gems I use in my jewelry are ethically sourced. No two are exactly alike! In addition to these variations, inclusions and irregularities are not flaws but rather a reflection of nature’s beauty. I use recycled fine silver and recycled sterling silver whenever possible.

This piece has been hand forged by me in my little studio. All metal used on this piece is fine and solid 925 sterling silver.
